Position Summary


Crowe’s dynamic and entrepreneurial Federal Solutions practice within the National Tax Office incorporates cutting edge technology into an innovative team-based approach to deliver specialized federal tax consulting to clients ranging from middle market companies to the Fortune 500. The group is currently searching for a manager to focus primarily on research and development (“R&D”) tax credits but may also work in other federal specialty solutions. A successful candidate will be prepared to assist the current leadership in expanding revenue by working with practice offices on existing clients and external opportunities coming through our business development team and possess the following skills:

  • Develop and execute work plans designed to identify and quantify qualifying research expenses and sustain research credit claims
  • Analyze client data to identify potentially qualifying positions and subject matter experts
  • Strong technical skills (Excel and similar programs) to lead and direct a team to analyze data
  • Lead technical interviews with client personnel such as scientists and engineers
  • Developing appropriate quantitative and qualitative documentation to support research credit claims based on client’s facts and circumstances
  • Ability to identify value-added opportunities and work in a team environment to develop business
  • Ability to identify areas for process innovation, streamlined client service, and other areas to deliver high quality work product in a seamless manner to our clients
  • Proven leadership and project management skills in managing client service teams and multiple projects in a fast-paced and interactive team environment to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Ability to work within different team structures varying from large client service delivery teams to 2 person delivery teams
  • Experience with developing the appropriate scope, pricing, and project team relative to specific R&D teams
  • Ability to proactively manage revenue and budget expectations set both internally by the existing management team and externally by clients
  • Ability to mentor and develop the team including on the job technical training and coaching
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Personal drive to develop self/others and provide leadership insight to the existing leadership team
  • Experience with statistical sampling and software claims is a plus


Bachelor's degree in accounting, MST is a plus CPA required.

5 +  years experience in public accounting; strong preference for Big 4 or large regional firm experience.

Moderate travel is required
